The mind wants to be calm, centered, open, alert, present, and free of stress. How can your mind reach what it wants if it isn’t aware of what it is that is keeping it from reaching calm, present and free of stress?
In the last few years, people discovered parts of them that made them feel uneasy, anxious, depressive, lonely, and relationships destroyed and broken. There was even a rise in domestic abuse and suicide attempts.
We are entering into winter months which can be very difficult for many and to top it off we keep hearing about a recession to add to what we all have been through in the past few years.
Why take care of your well-being when you are simply trying to survive, to catch up from the past few years, working hard to provide for your family and keeping on a happy brave face to spare your kids from feeling what you are truly feeling inside of you?
Prevention is a key element to reduce illness. Prevention can start anytime. Prevention can also be scary. It’s like admitting that there’s a problem. So why fix it if it ain’t broke?
Let me tell you a little secret. Every single human on this planet needs prevention. Prevention of their physical health, prevention of their mental health. Do not let fear keep you from being motivated by the end result. The end result after a workout, a one-on-one session with a professional, a nutritionist, a therapist, or an osteopath…is the best reward you can offer yourself.
Is it easy? Not always, does it get easier. YES!
Millions of people work every day. Racing to work, back home, cooking meals, bringing their kids to after-school activities, trying to be social with friends and family, caring for a family member and they would feel lucky if they fit in a workout, extra meal planning for their diet, do yoga, meditate, give themselves a facial or go for one and a massage. Oh la la, it’s exhausting!
Your well-being shouldn’t be exhausting, it shouldn’t be complicated and you shouldn’t have to do it all.
I know many are trying to do the right thing. To be your best. But what if your best, TODAY, is simply going to work? But what if your best can be better than that? What if it can be a total feeling of calm, peace and joy?
When your well-being becomes complicated there are 3 response systems that the human mind takes. FIGHT, FLIGHT, FREEZE. This defence system happens in many situations but let’s stick to your well-being.
- You can fight through the daily rush, keep trying to do it all, try to be perfect and then one day you may burnout.
- You can run away from your daily life. But most likely you have responsibilities that will catch up to you.
- You can look at all that you do in one day and when you get home simply do nothing to better your situation.
While these three quick convenient defence systems offer temporary relief none of them help you in the long run.
You cannot change what you aren’t aware of. Your mind may tell you that all will be ok and you are doing the right things to keep going. It’s protecting you. But your subconscious mind is giving you daily signals that something needs to change, something is not right. You are just not aware of it yet!
At times the accumulation is so enormous that the mind barries all the hurt and pain into the subconscious. Hence, the importance of prevention.
“but I don’t want to talk about myself, my pain” Ok, I get it. I wouldn’t want to open up to just anyone. Do your research and find someone you can trust.
If you can see yourself as someone who is calm, not struggling to be “perfect” and who feels deep inner peace wouldn’t you want to start taking care of your well-being?
As I mentioned earlier there is a tremendous amount of things to do in one day, on top of that all the wellness things to add to your day.
What to do, what to pick? Pick one, pick one thing today that will bring you that sense of calm and peace. When you start opening your awareness to what brings you calm versus what creates anxiety you can start taking the necessary steps toward change.
Right now you may be leading life with your mind, and your ego. Your mind isn’t the same as your soul or your heart. Your ego wants you to feel protected. It reminds you of past experiences, emotions and ideas. Your soul leads you to inner peace. Your soul is simply in the present moment.
Your ego carries that jar of crap you have accumulated your entire life. It reminds you of what you have been through, it uses the defence system to keep you from further pain. It’s quite smart. Your soul knows you have been through pain, it understands where you came from and where you want to go however it simply lives in the now.
The soul knows there’s a big jar of crap but it has let it go. It took a look at it and said “I no longer want to carry this big jar of crap with me. I don’t want a temporary fix, I want a long-term sense of peace” Your soul allows you to exist and be free of your past stories and all the problems it created, including limiting beliefs.
You cannot change what you aren’t aware of. Taking time to be in the present moment, in touch with your emotions, listening and hearing what your soul needs to hear at that moment in time, and reading words off a page that resonates with sensations within you is expanding your awareness.
When that awareness takes space, and expansion and you allow yourself to open up to possibilities, love, compassion, kindness, inner peace and personal evolution settle in, and you become closer to your source, your soul.
The biggest secret in life is to become closer to your source every day. To feel aligned with your soul, your mind, and your body. To feel whole, to feel calm, to have the right tools to bring you to that state of joy.
Your environment can be the same, the same job possibly, same family, same responsibilities but your soul is now leading you every day. You feel joy and harmony. How can that be, your outside world hasn’t changed. You chose today to take care of your soul and when you live life with your soul, you create an expansion of your awareness, no matter what your environment looks like or changes to. That inner peace is there for you.
It’s may seem hard to believe and I would have to say you have to live it to feel it, to understand. Every single human should take time for their well-being. I’ve seen tremendous change in people when they have reached that stage of “soul”
Yes, taking time every day to meditate, read a personal development book, take a walk in nature and do yoga brings you to that state of calm for a brief moment depending on where you are in life. But your goal is not to feel calm for a brief moment, your goal is to be calm. Your goal is to be present, alert, open, centered and restful.
When you can start to feel present and calm vs living subconsciously you are on the right path toward your goal. That awareness brings you clarity. And so whenever you feel you are robotically going through motions, stop, and center yourself. Take a deep breath, open your eyes, and take a look around you. What do you see? What do you hear? How do you feel? When you bring yourself back to the present moment you bring yourself back to your source. Aligning your soul with your body and your mind.
When you are present, whole, in with your true nature you are aware of your well-being and making the changes needed at that point in time. I would invite you to continue on that well-being path because that path is infinite.
During an accompaniment with a client, I bring a safe environment to offer an expansion of the mind. Respecting the client’s evolution I ask questions to contribute to their solutions towards a goal they may have difficulty reaching. Often, clients, humans, tell themselves stories from past experiences, and emotions that may have caused pain and this keeps them from moving forward with reaching their goals. Often, once the problem has been addressed, the subconscious mind offers clues and solutions to the conscious mind.
The client often feels signs of release. Which results in time to bring peace, harmony and happiness in their lives.
